Key Information Technologies is a small, focused team in Birmingham, Michigan. We build and support petroleum ERP software used by fuel jobbers and home heating operators every day. If that sounds interesting, we want to hear from you.
Key Information Technologies isn't a startup and it isn't a corporation. It's a 30-year-old software company with deep domain expertise, a stable customer base, and a team that genuinely cares about the petroleum operators they serve.
The work is intellectually honest. Petroleum accounting and operations are genuinely complex — multi-state tax compliance, real-time ATG monitoring, freight structures, BOL automation. You'll develop real expertise that matters, not generic “software skills.”
Everyone at Key develops deep petroleum industry knowledge over time. Support specialists learn petroleum accounting. Developers learn petroleum workflows. Implementation managers become the clients’ most trusted advisor on their own software.
Our customers stay for a long time. You’ll work with the same people year after year, building real trust and deep understanding of how their operations work. That continuity is rare in software.
Support questions become feature requests. Implementation observations become roadmap items. Custom work becomes platform features. At a small company, everyone’s work shapes the product.
The best fit for Key Information Technologies are people who combine some technology aptitude with real-world experience — or curiosity about — the petroleum industry. Here are backgrounds that have worked well:
Key Information Technologies hires for the long term. We're looking for people who want to build deep expertise in a specific domain, not move on to the next role in 18 months. If that's you, read on.
Front-line support for BookWorks customers — answering phone and email questions, diagnosing configuration issues, and guiding clients through BookWorks workflows. Some implementation project support as needed.
Lead BookWorks implementation engagements from kickoff through go-live — managing the project plan, coordinating data conversion, designing and delivering training, and supporting clients through their first close.
Build and maintain the BookWorks platform — new features, custom integrations, state tax reports, API development, and performance improvements. Work directly on a production system used by petroleum operators every day.
If you have a petroleum operations background and are interested in a career in petroleum software — support, implementation, training, or development — we want to hear from you even if you don't see a specific posting that matches.
We don't do automated screening or applicant tracking systems. When you submit an application, it goes directly to our team and a person reviews it. If there's a fit, we'll reach out for a direct conversation.
The most useful things you can tell us: your background in petroleum operations or software, what role you're interested in, and why Key Information Technologies specifically interests you. Generic applications are easy to spot.
Key Information Technologies operates from our Birmingham, Michigan office. Most roles are in-office or hybrid. We're a small team and in-person collaboration is part of how we work. Remote applicants from the Midwest may be considered for some roles — please mention your situation in your application.
